This is our current bed:
I feel it’s too dark and cold for my taste now. And, it’s massive. That’s the other part of the deal — our bedroom (and house) is very small. We’re going to be staying her a while longer, so we’re trying to make the best of the space and create a lot more storage. Thank goodness I’m married to a handy man carpenter!
So, back to the bed…..we have matching night stands and dresser to go along with it. We’re selling it all on Craig’s List pretty soon. I want our new look to not be so matchy-matchy. Originally, I wanted JT to build me a bed EXACTLY like this:
I still love it. But, recently JT came up with this design on his own that solves another space problem:
What do you think of the design?! It’s growing on me. I think it can be really cool if done right. I’m thinking a glazed Ecru with some really fun hardware from Anthro! Make it sort-of vintage-looking….
Thoughts???
I like it because I want as much wall space in our bedroom as possible and this gives us a way to NOT have a dresser. I’m thinking that when we have another baby one day down the road in this house, we’ll set up nursery in our room for a while and I want a place for a little crib and rocking chair over in the corner nook. So, what do you think? Let me know your thoughts. I know this design isn’t politically correct (and the fact that it’s drawn on a pharma note pad doesn’t help either!), but it could be cool and solves our problems.
Here are some other headboard shapes I like. I wouldn’t want ours covered in fabric, but I love these shapes. I can’t decide which to go with….

I love the design that JT came up with, but I also love your inspiration picture…that’s gorgeous.
Anyway, I think one of your other commenters suggested that you use your headboard inspiration with his drawers built in….a definite idea to think about…..
can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!!
Why don’t you go with the original bed that you loved but have him build it on the platform w/ drawers below?!
I’ve been wanting to make over our master too! Our bed is massive — queen sleigh bed — plus because of space we’ve moved a book shelf and a desk in there too. Basically, you can barely move around. Wonder if I could talk Jonathan into letting me have JT build me a bed and side tables. Oh, and a dresser! Wish me luck on that one:)
Oh, and I love his design and the shape you want to go with. I really like the yellow picture too for shape.
